The painter Hans Purrmann worked in the important art metropolises of Munich, Berlin and Paris, and later in Rome, Florence and Italian-speaking Switzerland. He thus developed into an artist of European stature. The change of location was significant for Purrmann’s artistic practice and at the same time made him an actor in various cultural and artistic circles. In collaboration with the Chair of Art History at the University of Regensburg and the Hans Purrmann Foundation Munich, 24 renowned authors present new research on the life and work of the painter and graphic artist. It presents an up-to-date overview of all phases of the artist’s life and work.
The book was presented at the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus in Munich on December 2, 2016.
